Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer (HVAC) with 5+ years of experience to lead the design and execution of mechanical and plumbing systems for diverse building projects.
This role is ideal for a driven professional ready to:
- Take ownership of projects from concept through construction
- Lead multidisciplinary coordination efforts
- Mentor junior engineers
- Contribute to business development
- Grow into a Team Lead or Department Head
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, analysis, and documentation of HVAC and plumbing systems for a variety of building types
- Manage projects through all phases: schematic design, design development, construction documents, and construction administration
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact for clients, architects, and internal teams
- Coordinate with electrical, structural, and architectural disciplines to ensure seamless project integration
- Oversee and mentor junior engineers and designers, fostering technical development and accountability
- Provide quality control reviews and ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards
- Support business development efforts, including proposal contributions and client relationship management
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, design strategies, and departmental growth
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering
- 6+ years of experience in MEP consulting or building systems design
- Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred (or in progress)
- Proven experience leading HVAC system design and coordinating plumbing systems
- Demonstrated success managing projects and interacting directly with clients
- Proficiency in Revit MEP and AutoCAD
- Strong understanding of building systems, codes, and industry standards
- Experience with sustainable design practices (e.g., LEED) is a plus
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
