Senior Mep manager - Ohio
An established and growing construction firm is seeking an experienced Senior MEP Project Manager to join its mission critical / data centre division.
This role will focus on leading the delivery of complex MEP packages across high-value, technically demanding projects, ensuring successful execution from planning through to completion.
Key Responsibilities
Client & Business Development
- Build strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders
- Support or lead client presentations, meetings, and negotiations
Project Delivery & Financial Management
- Take full ownership of project performance, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to a high standard
- Oversee design coordination, budgeting, and scheduling
- Drive overall project profitability and client satisfaction
Contract & Procurement Management
- Support and lead contract negotiations (commercial and legal aspects)
- Develop procurement strategies, including:
- Bid package creation
- Subcontractor selection and negotiation
- Managing long-lead and high-value MEP equipment
Team Leadership
- Lead and mentor a team of engineers and project managers
- Support hiring, onboarding, and development of new team members
Operational Oversight
- Ensure smooth handling of financials, invoicing, and accounts receivable
- Oversee administrative processes and ensure compliance
- Manage and resolve warranty-related issues post-delivery
Technical MEP Leadership
- Act as the subject matter expert for MEP systems, particularly within mission critical environments
- Oversee complex systems such as:
- Cooling infrastructure
- Redundant power systems
- High-spec plumbing networks
Quality & Risk Management
- Work closely with subcontractors to maintain strict quality control standards
- Ensure compliance with the high tolerances required for data centre environments
Cost & Supply Chain Management
- Track and manage MEP-related costs and materials
- Anticipate and mitigate supply chain risks and delays
Requirements
- 10+ years' experience in construction, ideally within mission critical / data centre projects
- Strong background in MEP systems delivery
- Willingness to travel as required
Preferred Experience
- Strong understanding of data center MEP systems and infrastructure
- Experience with:
- Commissioning processes and handover stages
- Third-party commissioning coordination
- Methods of Procedure (MOPs) for critical environments
