The Role
Responsibilities
- Lead structural design activities from concept development through detailed design and construction completion.
- Deliver marine infrastructure projects including piers, wharves, bulkheads, fender systems and associated structures.
- Manage project scopes, schedules, budgets, staffing plans and project fees.
- Oversee change management processes and ensure successful project delivery.
- Apply advanced structural engineering principles, codes and industry standards to complex projects.
- Review and approve engineering calculations, technical reports, drawings and specifications.
- Lead field inspections, site investigations and structural assessments.
- Provide construction support and resolve design-related installation and commissioning issues.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships with port authorities, terminal operators, shipping organisations and shipyards.
- Support business development activities, identify new opportunities and contribute to winning work.
- Prepare proposals, qualification submissions, cost estimates and project budgets.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership across multidisciplinary teams.
- Ensure QA/QC procedures are followed throughout the project lifecycle.
- Coordinate effectively with other engineering disciplines and project stakeholders.
- Promote and maintain compliance with health, safety and environmental requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering or a related discipline from an ABET-accredited programme.
- Professional Engineer (PE) Licence required.
- Minimum of 7 years' structural engineering experience, or 6 years with a Master's degree.
- Strong experience in marine and waterfront structural design.
- Proven ability to lead complex engineering projects and multidisciplinary teams.
- Knowledge of industry codes and standards including IBC, AISC, ACI and ASCE 7.
- Experience with project planning, budgeting and commercial management.
- Excellent written, verbal and client-facing communication skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
- Experience undertaking quality reviews of engineering deliverables.
- EPC project experience desirable.
- Willingness to travel to project and client sites as required.
