Senior Project Manager - HVAC

Overview

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Senior HVAC Project Manager to lead and oversee mechanical construction projects across the Charlotte, NC region. This role will be responsible for managing all phases of HVAC projects-from preconstruction through closeout-ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple HVAC construction projects simultaneously, typically ranging from mid- to large-scale commercial builds
  • Oversee project lifecycle including planning, budgeting, scheduling, procurement, execution, and closeout
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, general contractors, subcontractors, and vendors
  • Lead project teams including project engineers, coordinators, and field staff
  • Review project documents, contracts, and specifications to ensure scope and compliance
  • Monitor project financials, including cost tracking, forecasting, and change order management
  • Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies to maintain project success
  • Coordinate with estimating and preconstruction teams during project handoff
  • Ensure compliance with local Charlotte codes, safety regulations, and company standards
  • Conduct regular site visits, progress meetings, and client updates

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in HVAC/mechanical project management (commercial construction required)
  • Proven experience managing large-scale HVAC projects ($5M+ preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, ductwork, piping, and mechanical construction practices
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, contracts, and specifications
  • Proficiency in project management and construction software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, or similar)
  • Strong financial acumen, including budgeting and cost control

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
  • Experience in the Charlotte or broader North Carolina market
  • Familiarity with local subcontractors, suppliers, and permitting processes
  • LEED accreditation or other industry certifications (a plus)
