Senior Environmental Project Manager

Locations: Massachusetts, Connecticut, or Rhode Island (office location based on candidate preference, experience, and proximity)

About the Opportunity

An established and growing employee-owned environmental and engineering consulting firm is seeking a Senior Environmental Project Manager to join its expanding Environmental Services team. This individual will lead complex environmental investigation and remediation projects throughout New England while supporting multidisciplinary infrastructure programs.

The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, proven project management experience, business development skills, and the ability to mentor junior staff while delivering high-quality solutions to clients across the region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage environmental projects from proposal through completion, including scope development, budgeting, scheduling, and resource management
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams and coordinate with internal technical staff and external stakeholders
  • Prepare technical proposals, cost estimates, and project work plans
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships while supporting business development initiatives
  • Manage environmental site assessments, investigations, and remediation projects
  • Oversee field activities including:
    • Soil boring advancement
    • Groundwater monitoring well installation
    • Soil gas and sub-slab vapor investigations
    • Groundwater elevation surveys
    • Environmental media sampling and analysis
  • Review and interpret environmental data and prepare technical reports
  • Prepare and submit regulatory documentation to agencies in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and other New England states
  • Ensure project documentation, records, and deliverables meet quality standards and regulatory requirements
  • Provide technical guidance, training, and mentorship to junior scientists, engineers, and geologists
  • Support marketing, networking, and client development efforts throughout the region

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, or a related field
  • 15+ years of environmental consulting experience
  • Extensive experience with site assessment, remediation, and regulatory compliance projects
  • Strong project management skills, including budget and schedule management
  • Experience managing client relationships and supporting business development efforts
  • Excellent technical writing, communication, and report preparation abilities
  • Ability to work independently and lead multiple projects simultaneously
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel throughout New England as needed
  • Ability to perform field work in varying weather conditions and safely lift up to 40 pounds when required

Preferred

  • Master's degree in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline
  • Experience working with environmental regulations in multiple New England states
  • Professionallicensure including one or more of the following:
    • Licensed Site Professional (LSP) - Massachusetts
    • Licensed Environmental Professional (LEP) - Connecticut
    • Ability to obtain applicable state licensure within a reasonable timeframe
  • Experience managing complex remediation programs under state regulatory frameworks
