Senior Relay Settings Engineer
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Relay Settings Engineer with 4+ years of experience in power system protection and control. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, reviewing, and maintaining protective relay settings for transmission, distribution, and industrial power systems. This role requires strong analytical skills, hands-on experience with protection software, and a deep understanding of system coordination and fault analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop relay protection schemes for substations, transmission lines, and industrial facilities.
- Perform short-circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies using industry-standard software (e.g., ETAP, SKM, ASPEN, CAPE).
- Create and validate relay settings for various protection devices (SEL, GE, ABB, Siemens, etc.).
- Conduct protection system analysis including fault simulations and relay coordination studies.
- Review and interpret one-line diagrams, protection and control schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Support commissioning and testing of protection systems, including relay configuration and troubleshooting.
- Collaborate with project teams, utilities, and clients to ensure compliance with standards (e.g., IEEE, NERC, NEC).
- Maintain documentation and relay setting databases for ongoing operations and audits.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical training initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (Master's preferred).
- Minimum 4 years of experience in relay settings and protection engineering.
- Proficiency in power system analysis tools (ETAP, SKM, ASPEN, etc.).
- Strong knowledge of protective relays and schemes (distance, differential, overcurrent, etc.).
- Familiarity with NERC PRC standards and utility protection practices.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with IEC 61850 and digital substation technologies.
- Field experience in commissioning and testing protection systems.
- PE license or ability to obtain one is a plus.
