Senior Reliability Engineer
Location: St. Paul, MN | Minneapolis, MN
Summary:
This role involves expert-level analysis and oversight of reliability standards related to operations and planning within the bulk power system (BPS). The position supports both internal and external stakeholders by evaluating risks associated with non-compliance and guiding mitigation efforts to ensure system reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct analytical evaluations of complex technical issues to shape organizational positions on reliability standards.
- Serve as a subject matter expert in operations and planning, offering engineering and operational technology insights.
- Assess potential violations of reliability requirements, determine associated risks, and collaborate with entities to develop and verify mitigation plans.
- Lead inherent risk assessments to identify and document risks posed by registered entities.
- Develop and deliver outreach materials, including presentations at workshops and webinars.
- Identify risks not addressed by current standards and contribute to the standards development process.
- Mentor junior staff and contribute to team development.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical preferred); other relevant disciplines may be considered with applicable experience.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in power system reliability and/or security.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present to diverse audiences.
- Professional Engineering license and certifications in risk management, compliance, or security (e.g., NCSO, CRISC, CCEP, CISSP) are desirable.
- Familiarity with reliability standards is a plus.
