An established consulting engineering practice specializing in existing buildings, restoration, and building envelope projects is looking to add an experienced Senior Restoration Engineer to its growing New York team.
This position offers the opportunity to lead complex exterior restoration and rehabilitation projects throughout NYC, working on everything from multifamily residential properties and mixed-use developments to historic structures and high-rise buildings. The successful candidate will have significant responsibility for project execution, client interaction, staff mentorship, and technical oversight.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage multiple restoration and rehabilitation projects simultaneously from initial assessment through construction completion
- Lead faƧade, roofing, waterproofing, plaza, parking structure, and building envelope repair projects
- Perform and oversee building condition assessments and forensic investigations
- Prepare and review inspection reports, technical documentation, and regulatory filings
- Coordinate restoration design efforts, repair recommendations, and construction documents
- Conduct field investigations utilizing lifts, scaffolding, rope access, and rooftop inspections where required
- Oversee project budgets, schedules, staffing allocations, and deliverables
- Mentor and develop junior engineers and technical staff
- Maintain direct communication with clients, contractors, ownership groups, and regulatory agencies
- Assist in proposal preparation, project scoping, and business development initiatives
- Perform structural evaluations and engineering calculations related to repair and rehabilitation projects
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience within restoration, rehabilitation, structural engineering, or building envelope consulting
- Strong background in faƧade inspections, repair design, and existing building assessments
- Proven experience managing multiple projects and client relationships
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering required
- Master's degree and PE license preferred
- Experience with structural analysis software such as RAM, STAAD, RISA, or similar platforms
- Knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications
- Familiarity with construction administration and contractor coordination
- Strong report writing, communication, and organizational skills
- Experience working on projects throughout New York City
