Structural Project Manager
An established structural engineering consultancy is looking to appoint a Structural Project Manager to its growing Dallas team.
This is an opportunity for an experienced structural engineer to take ownership of technically challenging building projects while leading design teams, managing client relationships, and contributing to the continued development of the local office.
The position would suit a PE-licensed engineer who enjoys remaining involved in the technical side of projects but is also ready to take greater responsibility for project delivery, team leadership, and client coordination.
The Role
As a Structural Project Manager, you will:
- Lead the structural design and delivery of medium to large building projects
- Manage projects from initial design through construction administration
- Coordinate calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
- Oversee structural analysis and design across steel, concrete, masonry, and wood systems
- Guide engineers and designers throughout the project life-cycle
- Coordinate with architects, contractors, clients, and other engineering disciplines
- Review structural models, calculations, drawings, and project deliverables
- Monitor project schedules, budgets, billing, and overall financial performance
- Conduct site visits and provide construction-phase support
- Review shop drawings and respond to RFIs
- Act as a principal point of contact for clients and project stakeholders
- Support proposals, client development, and future project opportunities
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to internal technical development
What We're Looking For
- Bachelors and Master's degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering with a structural emphasis
- Active Professional Engineer licence
- Approximately 6+ years of experience in structural building design
- Previous experience leading projects or coordinating design teams
- Strong technical knowledge of steel and concrete structures
- Additional experience with masonry or wood design would be beneficial
- Experience using structural analysis and BIM software
- Strong understanding of relevant building codes and design standards
- Ability to manage project schedules, budgets, and multidisciplinary coordination
- Confident communication and client-facing skills
- An interest in mentoring engineers and helping develop a growing team
