Staff Scientist / Geologist - Upstream & Midstream Remediation

A well-established environmental consulting firm is seeking a Staff Scientist or Geologist to support a growing portfolio of upstream and midstream oil & gas projects across in Midland, Texas and the surrounding region. This is an opportunity to join a technically strong team working on complex site investigation, remediation, compliance, and environmental management projects.

The ideal candidate will have experience supporting environmental projects for oil & gas clients and a strong understanding of site characterization, remediation, and regulatory programs related to upstream and midstream operations.

Responsibilities

  • Support environmental assessment, investigation, and remediation projects for upstream and midstream facilities.
  • Conduct field activities including soil, groundwater, and surface water sampling.
  • Assist with site characterization, monitoring programs, and remedial system evaluations.
  • Prepare technical reports, work plans, and regulatory deliverables.
  • Interpret environmental data and support development of remedial strategies.
  • Coordinate with project managers, technical specialists, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Ensure field activities are conducted safely and in accordance with applicable regulations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Hydrogeology, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of environmental consulting or industry experience.
  • Experience supporting remediation, site investigation, or compliance projects within the oil & gas sector.
  • Familiarity with state and federal environmental regulations.
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills.
  • Ability and willingness to perform fieldwork and travel as needed.
  • GIS, groundwater, or petroleum-related remediation experience is a plus.
  • Professional Geologist (PG) or Geologist-in-Training (GIT) certification is preferred but not required.
