Senior Structural Engineer

Location: Greater Boston Area
Job Type: Full-Time | Hybrid

A growing structural engineering consulting firm is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join its expanding team. This position offers the opportunity to lead a diverse portfolio of building projects while playing a key role in project delivery, client management, and mentoring junior engineers.

The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in structural engineering, proven project leadership experience, and a passion for delivering high-quality solutions across a variety of building types.

Responsibilities

  • Lead structural design and analysis for building projects from concept through construction.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
  • Coordinate with architects, owners, contractors, and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients and maintain strong working relationships.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers.
  • Perform and oversee structural calculations, design documents, and construction administration services.
  • Participate in quality assurance and quality control reviews to ensure technical excellence.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high standards of deliverables.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • 5-10+ years of structural engineering experience focused on buildings.
  • Proven experience leading projects and working directly with clients.
  • Strong understanding of structural design principles and applicable building codes.
  • Experience with structural analysis and design software such as RISA, Revit, or similar platforms.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Structural Engineer (SE) license.
  • Experience mentoring junior staff.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Experience across a variety of project sectors including commercial, institutional, educational, healthcare, and mixed-use developments.
