About the Role
We are seeking a Structural Engineer to lead building projects from concept through construction. This role combines hands-on structural design with project leadership, client coordination, and team mentorship. The ideal candidate has experience across a range of structural systems and enjoys working collaboratively to deliver practical, high-quality engineering solutions.
This position offers the opportunity to work on new construction, renovations, and seismic upgrade projects while contributing to long-term client relationships and supporting the growth of early-career engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead structural engineering projects through all phases, from planning and design to construction administration and closeout
- Design and analyze structural systems including steel, concrete, wood, and masonry
- Evaluate existing buildings and develop solutions for renovations, retrofits, and seismic upgrades
- Coordinate closely with architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other consulting disciplines
- Direct the preparation of structural calculations, analyses, and construction documents
- Support proposal efforts by assisting with scope development, fee estimates, and schedules
- Plan project workloads, forecast resources, and manage project schedules
- Collaborate with engineers and BIM designers to ensure accurate, high-quality construction documentation
- Perform or oversee site visits, construction observations, and progress reporting
- Review shop drawings and construction submittals and provide timely responses
- Maintain regular communication with clients and foster strong, long-term professional relationships
- Mentor and support the development of junior engineers
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent ABET-accredited engineering program
- Master's degree in Structural Engineering preferred
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required
- Structural Engineer (SE) license preferred
- 4+ years of experience in structural design for buildings
- Experience with new construction, renovations, and existing building evaluations
- Proficiency with structural analysis and design software (e.g., Revit/BIM, RISA, or similar tools)
- Working knowledge of loads, structural analysis, and building code requirements
- Experience in project engineering or project management is a plus
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
