Substation and Relay Manager
Position Summary
The Substation and Relay Manager oversees the operations of the Electric Substation and Relay Division. This leadership role involves strategic planning, personnel management, budget oversight, and technical supervision to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of substation and relay systems. The manager collaborates closely with engineering teams, field personnel, and external consultants to support system reliability and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide general supervision and strategic direction for the Substation and Relay Division.
- Collaborate with the Director of Electric Operations on policy development and operational goals.
- Schedule and supervise division personnel, conduct performance evaluations, and support employee development.
- Assist in preparing and managing operating and capital budgets.
- Plan and oversee maintenance and technical support activities for substations and relay systems.
- Maintain accurate records of labor, materials, and maintenance activities.
- Continuously evaluate and improve operational methods, construction standards, and equipment usage.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders on technical issues, new projects, and system upgrades.
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, and technical reports to enhance system performance and quality.

Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in substation and relay maintenance.
- Minimum of 5 years in a supervisory or management role.
Skills:
- Proficiency in reading technical documents and interpreting regulations.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
- Ability to solve complex problems and manage multiple priorities.
Certifications/Licenses:
- None required, though relevant certifications are a plus.
