About the Opportunity
A nationally recognized employee-owned general contractor is seeking an experienced Superintendent 3 to join its growing Animal Healthcare and Pharmaceutical Construction team. This role offers the opportunity to lead highly technical projects involving cleanrooms, critical process systems, manufacturing equipment installation, and advanced life sciences facilities.
The ideal candidate will have experience managing field operations on complex healthcare, pharmaceutical, biotech, life sciences, manufacturing, or technically intensive commercial construction projects.
Position Summary
The Superintendent 3 will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of project execution, including safety, scheduling, subcontractor coordination, quality control, logistics, and client relations. This individual will lead field operations while working closely with project management, owners, design teams, and trade partners to ensure successful project delivery.
This role will also support the planning and integration of process equipment, clean utilities, and specialized building systems within highly regulated environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and promote a strong safety culture across all project activities
- Manage daily field operations, subcontractors, and trade coordination
- Develop and maintain project schedules and sequencing plans
- Coordinate equipment procurement, delivery, rigging, installation, and commissioning activities
- Oversee quality control, inspections, and project documentation
- Conduct daily planning meetings, subcontractor meetings, and owner meetings
- Manage site logistics, manpower planning, and workflow coordination
- Partner with project management to identify and resolve schedule, budget, and operational challenges
- Support constructability reviews and preconstruction planning efforts
- Collaborate with equipment vendors, engineers, and specialty contractors to ensure successful installation and startup activities
- Drive project closeout activities, punch lists, and turnover processes
Specialized Responsibilities
- Technical planning for pharmaceutical and animal healthcare equipment installations
- Coordination of critical process systems and clean utility infrastructure
- Development of equipment interface plans and installation sequencing
- Support cleanroom construction and commissioning activities
- Coordinate with VDC and project teams to develop move-in strategies and installation plans
- Resolve technical and coordination challenges that impact equipment installation and startup
Qualifications
Required
- 8+ years of commercial construction experience
- 5+ years of superintendent or field leadership experience
- Experience managing multiple trade partners and subcontractors
- Strong understanding of construction scheduling and field operations
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel as required
Preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field
- Experience with pharmaceutical, biotech, life sciences, healthcare, advanced manufacturing, or cleanroom projects
- Experience coordinating MEP systems and equipment installations
- Lean construction experience
- Knowledge of commissioning and turnover processes
