Construction Superintendent - Water / Wastewater Treatment Plants

Location: Raleigh or Charlotte, NC (local candidates preferred)

A well‑established construction general contractor with a strong presence across North Carolina is seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to lead the field execution of water and wastewater treatment plant projects. This role offers long‑term stability, consistent regional work, and the opportunity to deliver critical infrastructure projects throughout the state.

Most projects are located in the Raleigh and Charlotte metro areas, and the contractor is specifically interested in candidates currently living in, or willing to relocate to, either market.


Position Overview

The Superintendent will be responsible for overseeing all on‑site construction activities, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, and in accordance with contract documents. This individual will serve as the day‑to‑day field leader, coordinating crews, subcontractors, and suppliers while maintaining quality and productivity standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage daily on‑site operations for water and wastewater treatment plant construction projects
  • Supervise and coordinate subcontractors, craft labor, and equipment
  • Enforce jobsite safety programs and ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety standards
  • Review project plans, specifications, and schedules to drive efficient execution
  • Coordinate with project management teams to track progress, resolve field issues, and maintain schedules
  • Oversee quality control and ensure work is performed to contract requirements
  • Conduct daily planning meetings and communicate expectations clearly to field teams
  • Maintain accurate field documentation, including daily reports and progress updates

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Superintendent on water and/or wastewater treatment plant projects
  • Strong background working for a construction general contractor
  • Ability to lead field teams and manage multiple subcontractors
  • Solid understanding of construction means and methods for treatment plants, pump stations, and underground utilities
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Willingness to work primarily in the Raleigh or Charlotte areas
