As part of their continued growth, they are seeking a Superintendent to oversee field execution and team development on large-scale civil projects.

Position Summary

The Superintendent will be responsible for managing all field operations across one or more water resources projects. This includes overseeing safety, quality, scheduling, labor, and equipment, while supporting project financials and mentoring field leadership. The role requires a hands-on leader with deep construction expertise, strong communication skills, and a passion for developing high-performing teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead field operations for heavy civil projects, including water and wastewater treatment facilities.
  • Manage field budgets, general conditions, and labor/equipment costs.
  • Oversee daily site activities, including shutdowns, tie-ins, and subcontractor coordination.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols, quality standards, and contract requirements.
  • Develop and manage 3-week look-ahead schedules and contribute to overall project scheduling.
  • Mentor and support Forepersons, and Project Engineers.
  • Participate in preconstruction planning, estimating, and change order development.
  • Maintain accurate documentation including daily reports, timekeeping, and production tracking.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and layout teams to ensure alignment.
  • Lead field labor recruitment and workforce planning.
  • Support project closeout, punch list completion, and client satisfaction efforts.
  • Communicate regularly with upper management on project status and field performance.
  • Participate in Collaborative Project Delivery (CPD) processes and labor dashboard analysis.
  • Ensure jobsite cleanliness, equipment maintenance, and material handling.
  • Promote a culture of fairness, trust, and operational excellence across all field teams.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in field operations within heavy civil construction.
  • Proven ability to manage large-scale or multiple concurrent projects.
  • Strong understanding of field scheduling, labor management, and cost control.
  • Experience with water/wastewater or industrial infrastructure projects.
  • Proficiency in construction technology (e.g., BIM, 3D modeling, surveying).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Experience mentoring field staff and leading recruitment efforts.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites across the Midwest.
