Survey Crew Chief
Position Summary:
We are currently seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Survey Crew Chief to join our team in Jeffersonville, Indiana. This role is ideal for a professional who thrives in the field, enjoys leading a team, and is passionate about delivering high-quality survey data for a variety of civil engineering and construction projects. The Survey Crew Chief will be responsible for overseeing daily field operations, ensuring data accuracy, and maintaining safety and efficiency on all job sites.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a field survey crew on a daily basis.
- Conduct boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS land title, and construction layout surveys.
- Operate and maintain survey equipment including GPS units, robotic total stations, and data collectors.
- Interpret construction plans, plats, and legal descriptions to guide fieldwork.
- Perform field calculations and ensure accurate data collection and documentation.
- Communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure project requirements are met.
- Train and mentor junior crew members, promoting a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations as well as company standards.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in land surveying, with at least 2 years in a crew chief role.
- Proficiency in operating modern survey equipment and software.
- Strong understanding of survey principles, construction layout, and data collection techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and legal documents.
- Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and travel to different job sites as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with public land survey systems and CAD software.
- Knowledge of Trimble or Leica equipment and associated software platforms.
