About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced and visionary Technical Director - Water Infrastructure to lead the technical delivery and strategic direction of major water infrastructure projects across Australia. As part of a global Tier-1 contractor, you will play a pivotal role in shaping sustainable water solutions for government sector clients, while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across the region and internationally.

This is a leadership role that combines technical excellence, project oversight, and client engagement. You will be instrumental in driving innovation, mentoring future leaders, and ensuring the successful delivery of complex, high-value water infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership across the planning, design, and delivery of major water infrastructure projects, including treatment plants, desalination facilities, pump stations, and large-scale pipeline systems.
  • Lead and mentor engineering teams across multiple offices in Australia, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with Australian standards, regulatory frameworks, and sustainability objectives.
  • Support business development efforts by contributing to bids, proposals, and client presentations.
  • Engage with key stakeholders, including government agencies, utilities, and joint venture partners, to ensure alignment with project goals and community outcomes.
  • Promote the adoption of digital engineering tools, sustainable design practices, and resilient infrastructure solutions.

About You

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Water Engineering (Master's degree preferred).
  • 20+ years of experience in the water infrastructure sector, with a strong track record of delivering major projects in Australia.
  • Deep technical expertise in water systems, treatment technologies, and infrastructure delivery.
  • Proven leadership in managing large, multidisciplinary teams and complex project portfolios.
  • Strong understanding of Australian regulatory and environmental requirements.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience with delivery models such as D&C, EPC, and PPP.
  • Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status or eligibility is highly desirable.
