Role Overview
We are seeking a Transmission Line Engineer to support the design and execution of high-voltage electric utility projects. This role involves engineering overhead and underground transmission lines, coordinating with permitting agencies, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and utility requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and analyze transmission line systems (typically 69 kV to 500 kV), including structure selection, conductor sizing, and route planning.
- Prepare engineering packages for new installations, upgrades, and relocations.
- Conduct field assessments and support construction coordination.
- Collaborate with permitting, environmental, and right-of-way teams to secure project approvals.
- Perform structural analysis and PLS-CADD modeling for line design.
- Ensure compliance with NESC, IEEE, and utility-specific standards.
- Support QA/QC processes and provide technical guidance to junior engineers.
- Track project milestones and assist with documentation and closeout.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, or Electrical Engineering (ABET accredited).
- 5 years of experience in transmission line engineering.
- Proficiency in PLS-CADD, AutoCAD, and GIS tools.
- Strong understanding of transmission line construction methods and materials.
- FE/EIT certification preferred; PE license a plus.
