Transportation Project Engineer
Our client, a nationally recognized civil engineering firm, is seeking a Transportation Project Engineer to join their Peoria, Illinois office. With nearly 100 years of industry leadership, this firm provides comprehensive multidisciplinary services spanning transportation, surveying, construction, land development, environmental engineering, and more. In this role, you'll collaborate with industry leaders on projects that make a meaningful impact on local communities-while enjoying a strong work-life balance through a flexible schedule and standard 4.5-day workweek.
Responsibilities
- Manage and complete engineering plans and specifications in accordance with IDOT standards.
- Deliver Federal Aid transportation projects for a variety of public-sector clients.
- Lead diverse project and study types, including roadway design, underground utilities, drainage, traffic, and infrastructure improvements.
- Provide general civil engineering services for municipal, county, and state clients.
- Coordinate construction activities with clients, inspectors, contractors, and public agencies.
- Conduct on-site observation of construction work, repairs, and testing as required.
- Assist with business development and client management efforts related to transportation and infrastructure projects (preferred but not required).
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required.
- Illinois Professional Engineer (PE) license, or ability to obtain within 6 months.
- 5+ years of relevant experience with municipal or highway agency transportation projects.
- Proficiency with OpenRoads Designer and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Ability to independently manage multiple priorities and ongoing tasks.
- Strong written, verbal, computer, and organizational skills.
- Willingness to travel throughout the firm's service area (own transportation required).
