Position Overview

The Traveling Superintendent will be responsible for managing all on-site construction activities, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with quality standards. The ideal candidate will have experience leading industrial, self-storage, warehouse, or commercial construction projects and be comfortable traveling extensively to project sites nationwide.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all day-to-day field operations from project startup through closeout.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules in coordination with project management teams.
  • Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel.
  • Conduct site safety meetings and enforce all safety policies and procedures.
  • Monitor project progress and proactively address potential schedule or quality issues.
  • Ensure compliance with plans, specifications, local building codes, and client requirements.
  • Manage onsite inspections and coordinate with authorities having jurisdiction.
  • Maintain daily reports, project documentation, and field logs.
  • Review subcontractor work for quality, safety, and adherence to project requirements.
  • Coordinate project logistics, material deliveries, and equipment scheduling.
  • Lead punch list completion and project turnover activities.
  • Foster strong relationships with owners, consultants, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience as a Superintendent on commercial or industrial construction projects.
  • Experience managing ground-up self-storage, warehouse, industrial, or commercial projects preferred.
  • Ability to travel extensively and work on projects across multiple states.
  • Strong understanding of construction means and methods, scheduling, and sequencing.
  • Knowledge of building codes, OSHA regulations, and construction safety requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience coordinating multiple trades in fast-paced project environments.
  • Proficiency with construction management software and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Tilt-wall, pre-engineered metal buildings, and warehouse construction.
  • Site development and civil coordination.
  • Renovation and expansion projects within occupied facilities.
  • Multi-site or repeat-client construction programs.
