Position Overview
The Traveling Superintendent will be responsible for managing all on-site construction activities, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with quality standards. The ideal candidate will have experience leading industrial, self-storage, warehouse, or commercial construction projects and be comfortable traveling extensively to project sites nationwide.
Responsibilities
- Lead all day-to-day field operations from project startup through closeout.
- Develop and maintain project schedules in coordination with project management teams.
- Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel.
- Conduct site safety meetings and enforce all safety policies and procedures.
- Monitor project progress and proactively address potential schedule or quality issues.
- Ensure compliance with plans, specifications, local building codes, and client requirements.
- Manage onsite inspections and coordinate with authorities having jurisdiction.
- Maintain daily reports, project documentation, and field logs.
- Review subcontractor work for quality, safety, and adherence to project requirements.
- Coordinate project logistics, material deliveries, and equipment scheduling.
- Lead punch list completion and project turnover activities.
- Foster strong relationships with owners, consultants, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as a Superintendent on commercial or industrial construction projects.
- Experience managing ground-up self-storage, warehouse, industrial, or commercial projects preferred.
- Ability to travel extensively and work on projects across multiple states.
- Strong understanding of construction means and methods, scheduling, and sequencing.
- Knowledge of building codes, OSHA regulations, and construction safety requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience coordinating multiple trades in fast-paced project environments.
- Proficiency with construction management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
