Your Role and Contribution
We're seeking a skilled Urban Planner to support a range of municipal and regional planning initiatives. This role involves developing actionable plans and policies that shape communities-covering everything from land use and zoning to transportation and sustainability. You'll work closely with local governments, stakeholders, and interdisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality planning solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and delegate tasks across planning projects and support staff.
- Contribute to the development of graphic standards and document templates.
- Build proficiency in emerging planning technologies, including 3D GIS platforms.
- Conduct quality reviews of deliverables and ensure consistency across projects.
- Support business development efforts through proposal writing and client engagement.
- Prepare comprehensive plans, zoning codes, and special area studies (e.g., downtowns, neighborhoods, parks).
- Analyze demographic, land use, and infrastructure data to inform planning decisions.
- Facilitate public engagement activities and produce outreach materials.
- Create visualizations and conceptual renderings to communicate planning ideas.
- Present findings and recommendations to clients, officials, and community members.
- Collaborate with engineers and technical staff on infrastructure-related planning.
- Review development proposals for alignment with municipal plans and regulations.
- Represent the firm at professional conferences and contribute to thought leadership in the field.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Urban Design, Landscape Architecture, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in urban, transportation, or parks planning.
- Strong understanding of land use, sustainability, and community development.
- Experience with corridor, district, or neighborhood-level planning is a plus.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, and GIS software.
- Excellent writing, graphic communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability to interpret and apply municipal codes and development regulations.
- Skilled in public engagement strategies and stakeholder communication.
- Familiarity with municipal systems such as stormwater, utilities, and transportation.
- Actively pursuing professional certifications such as AICP and ENV SP.
