Utility Project Manager
We're looking for a driven and experienced Project Manager to oversee multiple utility transmission and distribution projects from start to finish. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys leading cross-functional teams, and is passionate about delivering high-quality infrastructure solutions.
As Project Manager, you'll be responsible for coordinating all aspects of the project lifecycle-including planning, budgeting, procurement, scheduling, client relations, and construction oversight. You'll serve as the primary point of contact for clients and internal teams, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the execution of utility infrastructure projects, ensuring successful delivery across scope, schedule, and budget
- Serve as the main liaison with clients, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders
- Review project plans and specifications to develop a clear understanding of requirements
- Create and maintain detailed work breakdown structures and project schedules
- Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and field teams to manage deliverables
- Oversee subcontractor performance and material procurement
- Manage project documentation including RFIs, submittals, contracts, and change orders
- Conduct regular project meetings and ensure alignment across all parties
- Monitor construction progress and implement corrective actions when needed
- Track project costs, forecast resource needs, and reconcile budgets during closeout
- Promote continuous improvement by applying lessons learned and embracing new technologies
Skills & Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of electric utility systems, construction methods, and project management principles
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and teams simultaneously
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with scheduling and project management software is a plus
- Ability to work both in-office and on-site as needed
- High level of integrity, attention to detail, and a proactive mindset
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (Master's preferred)
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in the electric utility industry
- Prior experience managing substation or transmission line projects is highly desirable
