Overview
We are partnering with a leading, fast-scaling carbon markets platform to support the expansion of its APAC investment team.
This role sits at the core of the business, focused on originating, structuring, and executing carbon project investments across the region. You will play a key role in building a high-quality pipeline of opportunities and driving capital deployment into high-integrity carbon projects and portfolios.
The position offers exposure across the full investment lifecycle, working closely with internal teams spanning science, portfolio management, trading, and strategy, as well as external stakeholders across the carbon ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
Origination & Pipeline Development
- Originate and assess carbon project investment opportunities across APAC
- Build and actively manage a pipeline of opportunities including:
- Offtake agreements
- Prepayments
- Strategic partnerships
- Evaluate project quality, commercial viability, and portfolio fit
Investment Analysis & Execution
- Develop investment cases, financial models, and valuation frameworks
- Lead transaction processes from:
- Origination
- Due diligence
- Structuring and negotiation
- Execution and closing
- Assess:
- Delivery timelines
- Issuance risk
- Counterparty strength
- Regulatory and policy considerations
Structuring & Commercial Negotiation
- Structure and negotiate commercial agreements with project developers and partners, including:
- Term sheets
- Purchase agreements
- Partnership frameworks
- Support development of scalable investment and financing strategies
- Work cross-functionally to align project structure with:
- Portfolio requirements
- Customer demand
Stakeholder Management
- Build and maintain relationships with:
- Project developers
- Corporates and buyers
- Financial institutions and investors
- Development finance institutions
- Represent the platform in the regional carbon markets ecosystem
Market & Strategic Insight
- Maintain a strong view on:
- Carbon market pricing and supply-demand dynamics
- Project pathways (NBS, removals, engineered solutions)
- Integrity trends and registry developments
- Contribute to broader investment strategy and market positioning
Candidate Profile
Experience
- 8-15+ years of experience in:
- Project finance / structured transactions / infrastructure investing / carbon markets
- Strong track record of:
- Leading transactions end-to-end
- Structuring complex deals
- Working across multi-stakeholder environments
Technical & Commercial Skills
- Strong financial modelling and valuation capability
- Experience with:
- Offtakes / commodity contracts
- Project development and financing structures
- Solid understanding of:
- Carbon markets (voluntary and/or compliance)
- Key standards and project types (e.g. NBS, removals)
Stakeholder & Leadership Profile
- Ability to engage with senior stakeholders across:
- Developers
- Investors
- Corporates
- Strong commercial judgement with a pragmatic, execution-focused mindset
- Comfortable operating in a high-growth, evolving platform environment
