A leading civil engineering firm is seeking a Vice President of Business Development to lead strategic growth in the water infrastructure sector across the Southeastern U.S. This executive role is focused on expanding municipal market presence, building long-term client relationships, and driving revenue through water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement business development strategies focused on municipal water and wastewater systems, including treatment facilities, distribution networks, and stormwater infrastructure
- Conduct market analysis to identify emerging trends, funding opportunities, and competitive positioning in the public sector
- Build and maintain relationships with city and county agencies, utilities, and industry partners
- Lead proposal development and contract negotiations for water-related civil engineering projects
- Collaborate with technical teams to ensure proposals meet client needs and regulatory standards
- Represent the firm at water-focused industry events, conferences, and professional associations
- Monitor financial performance, ROI, and project profitability across the water business unit
- Identify opportunities for joint ventures, public-private partnerships, and regional expansion
- Support recruitment and team development through industry networking
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or related field
- 15+ years of experience in business development within the AEC industry, with a focus on water infrastructure
- Proven ability to build strategic relationships and lead growth initiatives
- Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
- Self-starter with a passion for public infrastructure and community impact
