Location: Phoenix, Arizona
Salary: $150,000 - $200,000 DOE

A leading civil contractor in the Phoenix metro area is seeking an experienced General Superintendent to oversee major water and wastewater infrastructure projects. This is a senior field‑leadership role for someone with deep expertise in treatment plants, lift stations, pump stations, water reclamation facilities (WRFs), and complex mechanical/process systems.


Position Overview

As the General Superintendent, you will provide overall field leadership for multi‑million‑dollar water and wastewater projects across the region. You'll oversee field crews, subcontractors, schedules, safety, and construction means and methods-ensuring high‑quality, compliant, and on‑time project delivery.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead field operations for treatment plants, lift stations, pump stations, and WRF projects
  • Supervise foremen, craft crews, and subcontractors across multiple active sites
  • Develop and maintain detailed field schedules and manpower plans
  • Ensure all work meets safety, quality, and regulatory standards
  • Coordinate closely with project managers, engineers, and owners
  • Oversee installation of mechanical, structural, and process equipment
  • Guide daily planning, problem‑solving, and field execution strategies
  • Maintain productivity, cost control, and progress tracking
  • Foster a culture of safety, teamwork, and accountability

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in water/wastewater heavy civil construction
  • Strong background building:
    • Water & wastewater treatment plants
    • Lift stations & pump stations
    • WRFs & complex process/mechanical systems
  • Prior experience as a Superintendent or General Superintendent for major utility/water projects
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and planning skills
  • Deep understanding of sequencing, process piping, concrete, structural work, and equipment installation
  • Proven ability to manage multiple crews and high‑risk, high‑complexity work
