About the Role
We are working with a growing Building Automation Systems (BAS) contractor in the Dallas-Fort Worth area looking to hire a Design Engineer to support the design and delivery of commercial building automation projects. This is a great opportunity for someone with a strong technical background in controls design who enjoys transforming project requirements into detailed drawings, submittals, and control system documentation.
The ideal candidate will have experience designing BAS solutions for commercial buildings such as data centers, healthcare facilities, universities, office buildings, and mission-critical environments. Proficiency with Microsoft Visio is required.
Responsibilities
- Develop control schematics, system architecture drawings, and network layouts using Microsoft Visio
- Design BAS systems for HVAC, mechanical, and energy management applications
- Produce project drawings, points lists, sequences of operation, and submittal packages
- Review project specifications and ensure designs meet customer and project requirements
- Collaborate with Project Managers, Programmers, and Field Technicians throughout project execution
- Support engineering calculations and equipment selections
- Coordinate with consulting engineers, contractors, and end users
- Assist with project turnover documentation and as-built drawings
- Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and company best practices
Requirements
Must-Have
- 3+ years of Building Automation, Controls, or HVAC Controls design experience
- Strong experience using Microsoft Visio for controls drawings and system layouts
- Understanding of HVAC systems, control strategies, and BAS architectures
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings
- Experience creating submittals, network diagrams, and points schedules
- Excellent communication and organizational skills

- Siemens Desigo
- Delta Controls
- Schneider Electric EcoStruxure
- Experience supporting data center, healthcare, or higher education projects
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
