Director of Operations - Industrial Water & Wastewater Treatment
Role Overview: The Director of Operations will oversee operational excellence, client-focused service delivery, and regulatory compliance across a portfolio of industrial water and wastewater treatment programs. This role will lead an experienced team of engineers, field technicians, plant operators, and support staff, ensuring seamless execution of projects from design through ongoing operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide strategic leadership and direct oversight for all operational aspects, including field service, plant operations, chemical treatment programs, and compliance management.
Lead and develop a skilled operational team, fostering a culture of safety, quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
Manage and optimize complex industrial water treatment systems, including physical/chemical treatment, membrane filtration (RO/UF), ion exchange, and wastewater recycling processes.
Oversee outsourced operations & maintenance (O&M) contracts, ensuring all client deliverables, regulatory permits, and environmental compliance standards are consistently met or exceeded.
Ensure effective project management for system start-ups, troubleshooting, and ongoing operational support.
Engage with key clients, serving as a trusted advisor and maintaining high satisfaction levels through exceptional service delivery and proactive communication.
Continuously drive innovation and process improvement initiatives, incorporating best practices and new technologies to enhance operational performance.
Maintain strict adherence to environmental, health, and safety regulations, ensuring all operations reflect the company's commitment to responsible water management and sustainability.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
Proven leadership experience in industrial water/wastewater treatment operations, ideally with expertise in outsourced facility operations, chemical treatment programs, and regulatory compliance.
Strong technical background in water treatment technologies including RO, ultrafiltration, chemical precipitation, and wastewater reuse/recycling systems.
Exceptional project management and client relationship skills, with a history of successfully managing field service teams and operational budgets.
Demonstrated ability to drive operational excellence, improve processes, and implement innovative solutions to complex water treatment challenges.
Excellent communication skills, with a proven capability to manage diverse teams and engage with industrial clients and regulatory stakeholders effectively.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Chemistry, or related technical discipline preferred
8-10 years of progressive operational leadership experience in water treatment, wastewater management, or closely related industrial sectors.
