A leading engineering and construction organization specializing in mission-critical facilities, complex infrastructure, data centers, and secure environments is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join its growing engineering team.

Position Overview
This role is ideal for an engineer with approximately 3-5 years of electrical design experience who is actively pursuing a PE license or has already obtained licensure. The selected candidate will support the design and execution of large-scale electrical infrastructure projects focused on medium-voltage power systems, data centers, industrial facilities, and other mission-critical environments.
The engineer will lead project-level engineering efforts, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, mentor junior staff, and contribute to the design of reliable and resilient electrical systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and engineering of medium-voltage and low-voltage electrical power systems.
- Perform power system studies including:
- Short circuit analysis
- Arc flash studies
- Coordination studies
- Power quality assessments
- Develop electrical distribution designs including switchgear, protective relaying, UPS systems, generators, and backup power infrastructure.
- Design power systems supporting mission-critical facilities and large-scale data center environments.
- Support electrical infrastructure projects within industrial, manufacturing, healthcare, laboratory, and commercial facilities.
- Develop single-line diagrams, grounding systems, load calculations, cable sizing, equipment specifications, and power system studies.
- Coordinate with mechanical, structural, and construction teams throughout project execution.
- Ensure compliance with NEC, IEEE, NFPA, and applicable industry standards.
- Participate in project planning, engineering reviews, commissioning activities, and client coordination.
- Provide technical guidance on smaller projects and mentor junior engineers.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 5+ years of experience in electrical power system design.
- PE license or active pursuit of professional licensure.
- Experience with medium-voltage and low-voltage electrical systems.
- Proficiency with power system analysis software such as ETAP, SKM, EasyPower, or similar tools.
- Strong understanding of electrical distribution equipment, including:
- Switchgear
- UPS systems
- Backup generators
- Protective relays
- Power monitoring systems
- Knowledge of NEC, IEEE, and related industry standards.
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
Required Technical Experience
Candidates should have experience with:
- Medium-voltage and low-voltage power systems
- Short circuit studies
- Arc flash analysis
- Power quality analysis
- UPS and backup power systems
- Electrical infrastructure within data centers, industrial facilities, manufacturing environments, laboratories, healthcare facilities, or other critical infrastructure environments
Preferred Experience
Experience in one or more of the following is highly desirable:
- Mission-critical and data center facilities
- Industrial manufacturing environments
- Healthcare and hospital systems
- Research and laboratory facilities
- Utility or power generation projects
- Federal government projects
- Large-scale infrastructure programs
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Data center electrical infrastructure experience
- Mission-critical facility design experience
- Federal project experience
- Experience with SEL protective relays
- Familiarity with ETAP, SKM Power Tools, AutoCAD, or similar design software
- Project leadership experience
Location & Travel
- Candidates should be located in Virginia or be willing to relocate.
- Initial onboarding and team integration will occur in Northern Virginia.
- Long-term project support will be based in Central Virginia.
- Candidates in select Southeast markets may also be considered.
- Occasional travel to project sites will be required.
