Environmental Compliance Specialist - Memphis, TN
We are seeking a seasoned environmental compliance professional to support a wide range of regulatory and consulting projects. This role involves working directly with clients to ensure adherence to local, state, and federal environmental regulations, while also contributing to business development and project leadership efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare environmental compliance reports in accordance with RCRA, CAA, CWA, EPCRA, and other applicable regulations.
- Conduct environmental compliance audits and assist with site-specific regulatory determinations; periodic overnight travel required across the U.S.
- Develop and maintain stormwater pollution prevention plans (SWPPPs), spill prevention control and countermeasure (SPCC) plans, and hazardous waste contingency plans (HWCPs).
- Lead permitting and compliance efforts across multiple environmental media, including air, wastewater, stormwater, hazardous waste, and EPCRA reporting (e.g., Tier II, Form R/TRI).
- Manage projects and mentor junior staff, ensuring quality deliverables and regulatory accuracy.
- Identify and implement corrective and preventive actions to address non-conformance issues at client sites.
- Provide project management and coordination support for comprehensive environmental compliance and permitting initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in environmental science, engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental compliance, preferably in a consulting environment.
- Strong analytical and consulting skills, with the ability to interpret complex regulations and develop practical solutions.
- Proven project management experience, including scope development, budgeting, scheduling, and team coordination.
- Professional certifications such as PE, CHMM, or other relevant environmental credentials are preferred.
Preferred Experience:
- Development of SPCC Plans and SWPPPs.
- EPCRA 312 and 313 reporting.
- Hazardous waste reporting and contingency planning.
- Air emissions permitting and compliance.
- Stormwater and wastewater permitting under NPDES.
- Environmental compliance auditing.
