General Superintendent
Our client is seeking an experienced General Superintendent to lead field operations for complex water treatment plant construction projects based out of San Jose, CA. This senior leadership role is responsible for overseeing all onsite construction activities, driving safety, quality, schedule, and productivity, and ensuring successful project execution from start to finish.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide overall leadership and direction for multiple water treatment plant construction projects or large, complex single projects
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise all onsite construction activities, including subcontractors, self‑perform crews, and field supervision
- Ensure projects are executed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with contract documents and regulatory requirements
- Lead site logistics planning, construction sequencing, manpower planning, and equipment utilization
- Enforce company safety programs and promote a strong safety culture onsite
- Coordinate closely with Project Managers, Assistant Superintendents, engineers, inspectors, and owners' representatives
- Oversee quality control to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, and industry standards
- Lead field meetings, subcontractor coordination meetings, and daily planning activities
- Support project startup, commissioning, and closeout activities
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as a Superintendent working directly on water treatment plant construction projects
- Prior experience on projects located in California is strongly preferred
- Demonstrated expertise in construction of water and/or wastewater treatment facilities, including concrete structures, mechanical systems, piping, electrical, and instrumentation
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage large field teams and subcontractors
- Excellent understanding of construction sequencing, scheduling, and field productivity
- Thorough knowledge of safety regulations, quality control, and environmental compliance
- Strong communication, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills
- Ability to work full‑time on‑site in the San Jose area and travel to project sites as required
