Highway Design Engineer
Position Overview:
The Civil Highway Design Engineer will lead the planning and design of federal and state transportation infrastructure projects, including highways, multi-lane systems, and bridges. This role involves collaboration with DOT clients and internal teams to deliver safe, efficient, and sustainable roadway solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with clients to define project scope and vision
- Analyze survey data, traffic patterns, and environmental factors
- Design new roads, highways, and related infrastructure
- Use AutoCAD and Bentley software to develop plans and models
- Improve existing roadway systems for safety and efficiency
- Ensure compliance with DOT regulations and safety standards
- Prepare technical documents including RFPs, reports, and specifications
- Provide construction administration support during project execution
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or ABET-accredited equivalent
- Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification required
- PE license preferred or willingness to obtain
- Minimum 4 years of experience in highway/roadway design for federal/state projects
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Bentley design software
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Valid driver's license and insurable driving record required for travel
