Hyperscale Data Center Development- VP of Construction
A global hyperscale data center developer is seeking a Vice President of Construction to lead large‑scale, mission‑critical builds across the United States. This is a senior leadership role overseeing full‑lifecycle delivery of high‑density, high‑availability campuses, from greenfield development through commissioning and handover.
The Role
As VP of Construction, you will be responsible for driving the successful execution of all construction activities across multiple hyperscale programs. You will lead regional project teams, manage GC and trade partner performance, and ensure alignment on cost, schedule, safety, and quality across a rapidly expanding portfolio.
This role suits a strategic construction leader with deep technical understanding of data center delivery - including MEP‑intensive environments, fast‑paced scheduling, supply‑chain complexity, and commissioning excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee end‑to‑end delivery of hyperscale data center construction projects, ensuring on‑time, on‑budget completion.
- Lead project management teams, construction managers, and site leadership across multiple concurrent builds.
- Develop execution strategies for greenfield campuses, brownfield expansions, and multi‑MW hyperscale programs.
- Manage general contractors, subcontractors, and vendors; enforce performance standards and contract compliance.
- Provide leadership across preconstruction, design coordination, permitting, procurement, vertical and horizontal construction, and commissioning.
- Ensure rigorous QA/QC, risk management, and safety practices across all sites.
- Partner closely with design, operations, development, and finance teams to support long‑term capacity planning.
- Support executive reporting, budget oversight, capital planning, and nationwide construction scaling.
- Drive continuous improvement in delivery models, modular integration, and construction innovation.
Requirements
- 15+ years of experience in large‑scale construction, with at least 8 years focused on mission‑critical or hyperscale data center projects.
- Proven leadership overseeing multi‑MW programs, complex MEP systems, and fast‑track delivery models.
- Strong operational understanding of commissioning, reliability requirements, and high‑density infrastructure.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross‑functional teams and manage large GC/trade partner ecosystems.
- Experience working for or with developers, hyperscale cloud operators, or top‑tier general contractors.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and executive reporting skills.
- Ability to travel nationally to support active job sites.
