Overview
A growing engineering firm in the power generation sector is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer to serve as the technical lead on multi-discipline projects. This role is responsible for overseeing detailed electrical design, leading system studies, and ensuring delivery of high-quality, compliant engineering solutions across complex projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead electrical engineering design for power generation projects, including one-line/three-line diagrams, equipment layouts, and technical specifications
- Oversee and coordinate system studies such as load flow, short circuit, arc flash, protection coordination, and grounding analysis
- Translate study results into practical, implementable engineering solutions
- Develop scopes of work, conceptual designs, and execution plans for electrical systems
- Ensure alignment of electrical deliverables with project scope, schedule, and budget
- Coordinate cross-functional design efforts with mechanical, civil, and controls teams
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers
- Interface with clients, vendors, and stakeholders throughout project execution
- Support procurement efforts including equipment specifications, bid evaluations, and factory testing
- Contribute to project planning, including cost estimates, staffing, and scheduling
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required
- 10+ years of experience in power generation, industrial, or large infrastructure projects
- Strong background in electrical system design and analysis (medium/low voltage systems, protection schemes, grounding, etc.)
- Experience with power system modeling tools (e.g., ETAP, SKM, or similar)
- Familiarity with relevant industry codes and standards
- Proven leadership and ability to manage design scope, budgets, and schedules
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills
- Field or commissioning experience is a plus
