An industry-leading employee-owned engineering and construction organization is seeking a Mechanical Engineer - Fire Protection to join its growing engineering practice. This position offers the opportunity to work on large-scale and technically complex projects across mission-critical, power generation, energy, industrial, water/wastewater, and advanced infrastructure markets.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate facilities and equipment to determine fire protection requirements.
- Develop fire protection system designs, specifications, and engineering calculations.
- Perform hydraulic calculations and support fire suppression system design.
- Review sprinkler and fire alarm system drawings for code compliance and technical accuracy.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout project execution.
- Interface with clients, contractors, authorities having jurisdiction, and project stakeholders.
- Support projects from concept through construction and commissioning.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
- Participate in quality reviews, project planning, and business development activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- Active PE license preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in fire protection, mechanical engineering, or related disciplines.
- Strong knowledge of NFPA, IBC, IFC, and applicable fire protection codes and standards.
- Experience with sprinkler systems, fire suppression systems, hydraulic calculations, and code compliance reviews.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work effectively in both independent and team-oriented environments.
