About the Opportunity
A leading national general contractor with a rapidly expanding Data Center and Mission Critical division is seeking an experienced MEP Superintendent to support the delivery of large-scale hyperscale and colocation developments across the United States.
This is a travelling role that can be based anywhere throughout the Midwest, with assignments supporting some of the most technically complex projects in the industry.
The MEP Superintendent will be responsible for overseeing all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and specialty systems from installation through commissioning and turnover. This individual will play a critical role in ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and to the highest quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Lead field execution of all MEP and mission-critical systems.
- Coordinate mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and commissioning activities across the project.
- Manage and oversee MEP subcontractors to ensure adherence to project requirements, quality standards, and schedules.
- Review construction documents, specifications, shop drawings, and installation sequencing plans.
- Drive project schedules through proactive planning and trade coordination.
- Participate in pull-planning sessions, OAC meetings, and coordination meetings.
- Monitor installation quality and ensure compliance with design and operational requirements.
- Support testing, start-up, commissioning, integrated systems testing, and turnover activities.
- Identify and resolve field issues while minimizing schedule impacts.
- Promote and maintain a strong safety culture across all project activities.
Requirements
- 8+ years of construction experience with significant exposure to MEP systems.
- Experience supervising mechanical and electrical subcontractors on large-scale projects.
- Strong understanding of HVAC systems, chilled water systems, switchgear, generators, UPS systems, building automation systems, and life safety systems.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and schedules.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to travel extensively to project sites across the United States.
Preferred Experience
- Data center or mission-critical construction experience.
- Experience on projects valued at $100M+.
- Background working for a general contractor, EPC contractor, mission-critical builder, or major self-perform contractor.
- Familiarity with commissioning, integrated systems testing, and operational readiness processes.
- Experience coordinating multiple MEP trades in fast-track environments.
