Municipal Team Lead

We are currently partnered with a multidisciplinary civil engineering national leader that ranks in the top #100 firms according to ENR.

This opportunity is with a well-established consulting engineering firm seeking a senior municipal engineering professional to help lead and grow its local practice. The role offers the chance to oversee high-profile municipal infrastructure projects, mentor staff, drive business development efforts, and play a key role in shaping the strategic direction of the office. The ideal candidate will bring 10+ years of municipal engineering experience, strong project management capabilities, and a proven ability to develop and maintain client relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with leadership to develop and execute strategic growth initiatives for the municipal practice.
  • Lead proposal development efforts, providing technical leadership and contributing to winning pursuits.
  • Manage the design and delivery of municipal, site development, and transportation-related projects.
  • Mentor, develop, and support engineering and technical staff.
  • Oversee project teams, ensuring quality deliverables and efficient resource allocation.
  • Develop project work plans, schedules, budgets, and staffing plans.
  • Monitor project performance and ensure successful delivery on schedule and within budget.
  • Maintain high standards for technical quality, design practices, and project documentation.
  • Track and manage business metrics such as utilization, backlog, work-in-progress, and accounts receivable.
  • Coordinate activities with municipalities, regulatory agencies, utilities, and other stakeholders.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with existing clients, prospective clients, and strategic partners.
  • Stay informed on industry trends and emerging technologies to enhance service offerings and project delivery.

Desired Experience

  • Proven success managing municipal engineering projects and client relationships.
  • Experience leading teams and coordinating multidisciplinary project efforts.
  • Strong business development and project management background.
  • Experience supporting pursuit strategies, proposals, and marketing initiatives.
  • Ability to coach, mentor, and motivate technical staff.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with roadway design, municipal infrastructure design, and stormwater systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license, or ability to obtain licensure through reciprocity.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience
