Senior Project Manager- Site/ Civil

Are you an experienced civil engineering leader looking to take the next step in your career? Our client, a well-established engineering consultancy with a strong reputation across the Mid-Atlantic region, is seeking a Senior Civil Engineering Project Manager to lead complex land development projects, mentor technical teams, and drive client success.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative, multidisciplinary organisation delivering impactful projects ranging from large-scale land development schemes to complex urban redevelopment initiatives.

The Opportunity

In this leadership role, you will be responsible for managing projects from initial planning through construction, while supporting business development efforts and building long-term client relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage land development and site civil engineering projects through all phases of delivery.
  • Oversee project scope, schedules, budgets, staffing, and quality assurance.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients and key stakeholders.
  • Mentor and develop engineers and technical staff across multiple experience levels.
  • Review engineering plans, reports, and specifications for technical accuracy and quality.
  • Coordinate with public agencies, consultants, contractors, and project stakeholders.
  • Support proposal preparation, fee development, and business development initiatives.
  • Provide technical leadership in site design, grading, drainage, utilities, stormwater management, and permitting.
  • Lead project meetings and assist with presentations and agency approvals.
  • Manage project financial performance, invoicing, and profitability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (Master's degree preferred).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licence in Maryland, Virginia, or Washington DC, or the ability to obtain licensure.
  • 15+ years of experience in land development and site civil engineering.
  • Proven experience managing multidisciplinary project teams and client relationships.
  • Strong understanding of permitting and development processes within Mid-Atlantic jurisdictions.
  • Experience with Auto CAD Civil 3D and/or Micro-Station.
  • Strong project management, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Preferred Experience

  • Stormwater modelling using Hydra flow, Hydro CAD, Storm & Sanitary Analysis, or similar software.
  • Site grading, stormwater management, utility design, and erosion and sediment control design.
  • Business development experience and involvement in professional industry organisations.
  • Experience preparing proposals, negotiating scopes, and managing additional services.
