Senior Sediment Remediation Specialist

Location: Detroit Metropolitan

My client, an employee-owned environmental consulting firm with a nationally recognized sediment practice, is seeking a Senior Sediment Remediation Specialist to help lead complex sediment investigation and remediation projects across the country.

This is an opportunity to take on a highly visible role within a growing team, working on large-scale sediment cleanup projects while helping shape the future of the practice.

Responsibilities

  • Lead contaminated sediment investigation and remediation projects from planning through implementation
  • Manage sediment characterization, site investigations, feasibility studies, conceptual site models, and remedial design efforts
  • Develop and evaluate sediment remediation strategies, including dredging, capping, monitored natural recovery, and related approaches
  • Provide technical leadership on sediment transport, contaminant fate and transport, and related analyses
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, deliverables, and client relationships
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams and mentor junior staff
  • Support business development efforts and maintain key client relationships
  • Serve as a technical advisor on complex sediment remediation projects

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, or a related field
  • Master's degree or PhD preferred
  • PE or PG license required
  • 10+ years of contaminated sediment consulting experience
  • 40-Hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification
  • Strong background in sediment investigation, remediation, and regulatory compliance
  • Experience managing complex environmental projects and client relationships
  • Hydrodynamic modeling, statistical analysis, or litigation support experience is a plus
  • Interest in waterfront restoration and nature-based solutions is beneficial
