About the Opportunity
Our client is seeking a Senior Water Resources Engineer to join their growing team in Austin, Texas. This position offers the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of water resources projects across Central Texas, including watershed studies, flood risk assessments, drainage infrastructure improvements, stormwater management, and floodplain analysis.
The ideal candidate will be a licensed Professional Engineer with strong technical expertise and a passion for delivering innovative solutions for municipal, transportation, and private-sector clients. This role offers a clear path for career progression while providing opportunities to lead projects, mentor junior staff, and contribute to business development efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, design, and delivery of water resources projects throughout Texas.
- Perform and oversee hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for drainage, stormwater, watershed, and floodplain projects.
- Develop and review HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, and other hydraulic and hydrologic models.
- Prepare technical reports, drainage studies, floodplain analyses, and engineering recommendations.
- Coordinate with clients, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders.
- Manage project scopes, budgets, schedules, and deliverables.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and EITs.
- Support proposal development and client relationship management efforts.
- Conduct quality assurance and quality control reviews of technical work products.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Texas or ability to obtain through reciprocity.
- 7+ years of water resources engineering experience.
- Strong experience with floodplain management, drainage design, stormwater systems, and watershed studies.
- Proficiency with HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, GIS, and related modeling software.
- Experience managing engineering projects and coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Experience
- FEMA CLOMR/LOMR studies.
- 2D hydraulic modeling.
- Watershed master planning.
- TxDOT drainage and hydraulic studies.
- Capital Improvement Program (CIP) projects.
- Municipal and county infrastructure projects throughout Texas.
- Client-facing project management and business development experience.
