About the Opportunity
A growing multidisciplinary engineering consulting firm is seeking an experienced Structural BIM Designer to support a wide variety of commercial, institutional, municipal, and private-sector projects. This position works closely with structural engineers and project managers to develop high-quality structural models and construction documents using Revit and other BIM technologies.
Position Summary
The Structural BIM Designer will provide drafting and modeling support for structural engineering projects from concept through construction. This role requires strong Revit proficiency, attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate with engineering teams to develop accurate structural models and construction documents while meeting project schedules and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain 3D structural models using Revit.
- Create structural BIM models from architectural Revit models, CAD files, sketches, and design documents.
- Prepare structural plans, details, sections, and construction documents for project delivery.
- Coordinate structural models with architectural and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Update structural models and drawings as designs evolve throughout the project lifecycle.
- Collaborate with engineers and project managers to ensure accurate and efficient project execution.
- Perform quality control reviews of structural drawings and BIM models.
- Maintain project file organization and BIM standards.
- Assist with drawing layout, sheet setup, and project documentation.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior drafting and BIM personnel as needed.
- Stay current with industry best practices, BIM workflows, and software advancements.
Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, Architecture, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 4 years of experience producing structural BIM models using Revit.
- Strong understanding of structural construction methods and building systems.
- Experience preparing structural construction documents and drawings.
- Familiarity with BIM coordination and multidisciplinary design environments.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced Revit experience, including families, parameters, schedules, and template development.
- Experience with BIM 360, Dynamo, Rhino, AutoCAD, and related design technologies.
- Knowledge of structural steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, and wood construction systems.
- Experience coordinating structural models with architectural, MEP, and civil disciplines.
- Previous experience supporting commercial, educational, municipal, healthcare, or mixed-use projects.
