We are partnered with a nationally recognized engineering and consulting firm that is actively growing its survey operations in the Southeast. Due to a substantial and diverse project backlog across transportation, industrial, energy, and multidisciplinary infrastructure projects, our client is seeking an experienced Survey Director to lead and expand their Atlanta-area survey practice. This is a high-visibility leadership opportunity for a professional who enjoys building teams, managing complex projects, driving operational excellence, and helping shape the strategic direction of a growing practice.

The Survey Director will be responsible for:

Leading all surveying operations for the Atlanta region, including project delivery, staffing, budgeting, and business performance.
Managing a diverse portfolio of transportation, industrial, energy, land development, and multidisciplinary infrastructure projects.
Overseeing survey managers, field crews, office personnel, and subcontractors to ensure quality, efficiency, and safety standards are met.
Developing and implementing strategic growth plans for the survey practice, including recruiting, mentoring, and retaining top talent.
Serving as a key client-facing leader, building relationships with public agencies, private developers, engineering teams, and strategic partners.
Ensuring compliance with state regulations, company standards, and industry best practices while maintaining exceptional quality control.
Collaborating with engineering, environmental, and geospatial teams to support integrated project delivery and business development initiatives.

The Survey Director should have the following qualifications:

Professional Land Surveyor (PLS/RLS) license required, with Georgia licensure preferred or the ability to obtain reciprocity.
10+ years of progressive surveying experience, including leadership or operational management responsibilities.
Strong background managing transportation, utility, industrial, energy, or large-scale infrastructure survey projects.
Proven experience leading survey teams, developing staff, and managing multiple concurrent projects.
Strong understanding of boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, utility, construction, and control surveys.
Experience with modern survey technologies including GPS, robotic total stations, LiDAR, UAVs, and geospatial data workflows.
Excellent client management, business development, communication, and project management skills.
