Survey Director
We are partnered with a nationally recognized engineering and consulting firm that is actively growing its survey operations in the Southeast. Due to a substantial and diverse project backlog across transportation, industrial, energy, and multidisciplinary infrastructure projects, our client is seeking an experienced Survey Director to lead and expand their Atlanta-area survey practice. This is a high-visibility leadership opportunity for a professional who enjoys building teams, managing complex projects, driving operational excellence, and helping shape the strategic direction of a growing practice.
The Survey Director will be responsible for:
- Leading all surveying operations for the Atlanta region, including project delivery, staffing, budgeting, and business performance.
- Managing a diverse portfolio of transportation, industrial, energy, land development, and multidisciplinary infrastructure projects.
- Overseeing survey managers, field crews, office personnel, and subcontractors to ensure quality, efficiency, and safety standards are met.
- Developing and implementing strategic growth plans for the survey practice, including recruiting, mentoring, and retaining top talent.
- Serving as a key client-facing leader, building relationships with public agencies, private developers, engineering teams, and strategic partners.
- Ensuring compliance with state regulations, company standards, and industry best practices while maintaining exceptional quality control.
- Collaborating with engineering, environmental, and geospatial teams to support integrated project delivery and business development initiatives.
The Survey Director should have the following qualifications:
- Professional Land Surveyor (PLS/RLS) license required, with Georgia licensure preferred or the ability to obtain reciprocity.
- 10+ years of progressive surveying experience, including leadership or operational management responsibilities.
- Strong background managing transportation, utility, industrial, energy, or large-scale infrastructure survey projects.
- Proven experience leading survey teams, developing staff, and managing multiple concurrent projects.
- Strong understanding of boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, utility, construction, and control surveys.
- Experience with modern survey technologies including GPS, robotic total stations, LiDAR, UAVs, and geospatial data workflows.
- Excellent client management, business development, communication, and project management skills.
