Principal - Seattle Transportation Lead
Our client, a respected regional engineering consulting firm with an employee-owned (ESOP) structure, is seeking a Principal - Seattle Transportation Lead to grow and lead their transportation practice across the Puget Sound region. This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for strategy, client relationships, project delivery, and team development, with significant influence over the firm's regional growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and grow the Seattle-area transportation practice with a focus on roadway and highway programs.
- Serve as Principal-in-Charge on complex transportation infrastructure projects.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with WSDOT, local municipalities, ports, and regional agencies.
- Provide technical oversight for roadway, corridor, and multimodal transportation projects.
- Guide project teams through planning, design, and delivery ensuring quality, schedule, and financial performance.
- Lead and support business development efforts including pursuits, proposals, and client engagement.
- Mentor project managers and technical staff while helping attract and retain top talent.
- Collaborate with firm leadership on regional strategy, staffing, and long-term growth initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (Master's preferred).
- Washington PE license required.
- 15+ years of transportation engineering experience with a strong background in roadway and highway design.
- Proven experience serving as Principal-in-Charge, Project Executive, or Practice Leader.
- Deep familiarity with WSDOT standards, processes, and delivery methods.
- Demonstrated success in business development and client relationship management.
- Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
