Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Commissioning Engineer to join our Cleveland-based team at a leading MEP engineering firm. This role is ideal for a professional with at least five years of experience in building systems commissioning who is passionate about optimizing performance, ensuring quality, and driving sustainability in the built environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage commissioning projects for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems across commercial, institutional, and healthcare facilities
- Develop and execute commissioning plans, schedules, and documentation in accordance with industry standards and client requirements
- Perform site inspections, functional performance testing, and verification of system installations
- Collaborate with design engineers, contractors, and facility managers to resolve issues and ensure systems meet design intent
- Prepare detailed commissioning reports and recommendations for system improvements
- Support retro-commissioning and monitoring-based commissioning efforts
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to internal process improvements
- Utilize commissioning software tools (e.g., CxAlloy, Bluebeam) for documentation and reporting
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering field
- Minimum of 5 years of commissioning experience in MEP systems
- Strong understanding of building codes, LEED commissioning requirements, and ASHRAE guidelines
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in commissioning software and Microsoft Office Suite
- Professional certifications such as CxA, BCxP, or LEED AP are a plus
