About the Role
The Survey Department Manager will oversee all survey operations from data collection to final mapping, while leading a team of field and office professionals. The role blends technical oversight, staff management, project coordination, and quality assurance supporting land development, municipal, and infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities
- Oversee preparation of boundary, topographic, construction, ALTA, and subdivision‑related survey products.
- Review, approve, and sign survey documents including maps, records, and legal descriptions.
- Lead research and analysis of deeds, easements, and title documents to support boundary determinations.
- Manage field data processing, quality checks, and compliance with applicable standards.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to clarify survey needs and support project goals.
- Develop scopes, budgets, and approaches for survey‑related proposals.
- Organize, maintain, and archive survey project documentation to support legal and operational integrity.
- Manage workload, scheduling, staff assignments, and departmental priorities.
- Mentor junior survey staff in drafting, research, calculations, and professional development.
Qualifications
- Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license (or equivalent eligibility).
- 5+ years of experience in land surveying with increasing responsibility.
- Strong understanding of boundary law, mapping procedures, and survey standards.
- Proficiency with modern survey technology, CAD tools, and data processing workflows.
- Ability to lead teams, manage schedules, and collaborate across disciplines.
