Aviation Project Manager
The role is responsible for delivering all project objectives for assigned tasks involving civil engineering and related disciplines, specifically for aviation clients. Key responsibilities include planning, scope definition, scheduling, budgeting, team coordination, stakeholder communication, risk management, resource allocation, quality assurance, and reporting. Projects may involve both airside and landside operations.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Manage projects in alignment with defined scope, schedule, and budget.
- Collaborate with internal disciplines and external subconsultants to develop risk-averse scopes and fee structures.
- Develop project-specific plans, including Project Management Plans and Quality Management Plans.
- Create and maintain detailed project schedules.
- Oversee and coordinate subconsultant activities.
- Monitor project progress, identify and mitigate risks, and prepare extra work order requests and open-end contract task proposals.
- Communicate project status, updates, and issues to internal and external stakeholders.
- Participate in financial status meetings related to project performance.
- Build and maintain client relationships to understand preferences and requirements for successful project execution.
- Prepare progress reports and review project invoices.
- Lead project status meetings and presentations.
- Support marketing efforts including Go/No-Go decisions, proposal development, and client interviews.
- Coordinate technical resources to ensure high-quality project delivery.
- Provide coaching and mentorship to project team members through regular check-ins and debriefs.
- Lead and manage team members by setting expectations, providing feedback, and supporting professional growth.

Required Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Experience managing multidisciplinary project teams
Required Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an ABET-accredited program
- Professional Engineer (PE) license with ability to obtain registration in relevant states within 3 months of employment
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience
Preferred Experience
- CAPM or PMP certification
- Experience in airside airport design (runways, taxiways, taxilanes, RSA improvements) in accordance with FAA guidelines and circulars
- Familiarity with various project delivery methods including Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, and P3
