Director of Strategic Origination - Government
This role is responsible for driving business growth and managing key client relationships within the industrial and manufacturing sectors. The position involves overseeing the full sales lifecycle-from lead generation to deal closure-and executing both inside and field-based business development activities.
Key Responsibilities
Lead business development initiatives targeting large industrial clients with significant energy needs (electricity and natural gas).
Focus on the industrial government segment, including sectors such as municipalities, cities, and government buildings.
Collaborate with internal teams to deliver a wide range of energy-related solutions, including site development, infrastructure, distributed energy resources, energy storage, and procurement strategies.
Manage end-to-end sales activities, ensuring seamless client engagement and successful project execution.
Develop and sustain long-term client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor on energy strategy and innovation.
Engage in direct sales efforts, including attendance at industry events, client meetings, and networking opportunities.
Monitor industry trends and market intelligence to guide sales strategy and client offerings.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Energy, or a related discipline.
Over 10 years of experience in business development, sales, or energy advisory roles.
Deep knowledge of the commercial and industrial energy landscape, particularly for large-scale energy consumers.
At least 5 years of experience working with or within the manufacturing and chemical sectors.
Proven ability to generate new business and cultivate lasting client partnerships.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with a consultative sales approach.
Strong understanding of energy procurement, infrastructure, and market dynamics.
Preferred Qualifications
MBA or equivalent advanced degree.
Relevant certifications such as CEM (Certified Energy Manager) or BEP (Business Energy Professional).
Familiarity with CRM platforms and modern sales enablement tools.
Demonstrated capability in market analysis, strategic planning, and competitor benchmarking.
Established professional network within the energy sector.
Travel Requirements
Willingness to travel 20-80% to engage with clients and explore new business opportunities.
