This role focuses on private-sector Residential and Commercial Land Development and is responsible for overseeing departmental operations, managing multiple engineering teams, and ensuring successful project delivery across budgets, timelines, and quality standards.

Role Overview
As Civil Engineering Department Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction of the department and driving operational excellence. You'll lead with a people-first mindset, mentoring engineers and fostering a high-performance culture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define and communicate departmental goals and expectations
- Assess staffing needs and oversee recruitment, training, and development
- Supervise project managers and engineering staff, including external engagement to enhance brand visibility
- Develop and implement engineering standards, processes, and procedures
- Collaborate with other department leaders to improve cross-functional communication and quality control
- Lead research and development initiatives to identify new opportunities and optimize workflows
- Deliver engineering presentations internally and externally
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
- Minimum 15 years of progressive engineering experience
- At least 5 years in a leadership or management role
- Registered Professional Engineer (PE)
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and project management skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, with the capacity to simplify complex topics for non-technical audiences
- Advanced analytical and mathematical capabilities
Preferred:
- Master's degree in Engineering Management, Business Administration, or related field
- PE registration in the State of Nebraska
- Experience presenting at public events and client meetings
- Prior responsibility for departmental profit and loss
