About the Company: Our client, a leading heavy civil general contractor, is dedicated to delivering high-quality infrastructure projects. They specialize in large-scale civil engineering projects, including highways, bridges, and utilities. They are currently seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Estimator to join their team in Bellevue, WA.
Job Description: As an Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for heavy civil construction projects. You will analyze project plans, specifications, and other documentation to determine the overall project cost. Your role is crucial in helping the company secure new projects and maintain profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare detailed cost estimates.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information for accurate estimates.
- Identify and quantify cost factors, such as production time, materials, and labor expenses.
- Prepare and present detailed cost breakdowns and bid proposals.
- Conduct site visits to understand project scope and conditions.
- Maintain and update cost databases and estimating software.
- Monitor and analyze market trends, material prices, and labor rates.
- Assist in the negotiation of contracts and change orders.
Experience Needed:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in estimating for heavy civil construction projects.
- Proven track record of preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates.
- Experience with highways, bridges, utilities, and other large-scale civil projects.
- Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., HCSS, HeavyBid) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and equipment.
Qualifications Needed:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
