Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Automation Engineer to join our pharmaceutical manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Siemens PLCs and WinCC, ensuring seamless automation of production processes. This role involves designing, programming, troubleshooting, and maintaining automation systems to enhance efficiency, compliance, and reliability in a regulated GMP environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and implement automation solutions using Siemens PLCs and WinCC SCADA.
Troubleshoot, optimize, and maintain PLC programming, HMI, and SCADA systems for pharmaceutical manufacturing processes.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate automation systems into production and quality operations.
Ensure compliance with GMP, FDA, and other regulatory requirements in automation practices.
Support validation activities for automated processes, including documentation, testing, and qualification.
Perform root cause analysis and corrective actions for automation-related issues to minimize downtime.
Lead or support automation projects, upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Train and support operators and technicians in handling automated systems efficiently.
Maintain technical documentation, change controls, and work instructions related to automation systems.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, or related field.
3-5+ years of experience in automation within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
Expertise in Siemens PLCs (S7-1500, S7-1200, S7-300) and WinCC SCADA/HMI.
Strong understanding of GMP, FDA 21 CFR Part 11, and validation processes in pharma manufacturing.
Experience with industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Profibus, Modbus, OPC).
Proficiency in troubleshooting PLC logic, hardware interfaces, and networking issues.
Familiarity with batch processing, cleanrooms, and aseptic manufacturing principles is a plus.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, regulated environment while ensuring quality and compliance.
Strong problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with robotics, vision systems, or MES integration.
Knowledge of SQL databases, Python scripting, or virtualized automation environments.
Project management experience in automation and digitalization initiatives.
